Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj: How Many Days Do You Actually Need?
Honest guidance on pacing the three-city circuit, including why four days is usually the right answer.
The driving distances are not the problem
Varanasi to Prayagraj is about two and a half hours on the expressway, and Prayagraj to Ayodhya about three. The distances are easy. It is the darshan queues and the heat that decide how much you can actually do in a day.
Three days is tight but possible
One day per city, with an early start in Ayodhya. It works for younger travellers with a vehicle waiting at every stop. It does not work well with children or elderly parents.
Four days is the sweet spot
Arrive in Varanasi and let the first day be gentle. Take the second for Kashi darshan and the aarti, the third for Prayagraj's Sangam on the way to Ayodhya, and the fourth for Ayodhya before departure. That is the itinerary most of our guests end up taking, and the one we recommend by default.
When to add a fifth day
If you want the full Kamadgiri Parikrama at Chitrakoot, or the Gaya Pind Daan, add a day. Trying to fold either into a four-day circuit means rushing the thing you came for.
